Hello and Welcome

Thank you for visiting us. St Saviour's is the Church of England Parish Church of Coalpit Heath, in the Diocese of Bristol. The only other church within the parish is Zion United Church (URC/Methodist) with whom St. Saviour's has an excellent relationship, both on an individual basis, and also as part of the Local Ecumenical Partnership which includes St. Peter's Church, Frampton Cotterell. We will shortly be starting a new partnership with Frampton Cotterell, Winterbourne and Winterbourne Down; we are looking forward to this.

On this site you will find a description of our services, social events, groups and activities as well as an interactive map of the Churchyard and the story of our history and our famous architect. If you would like to support St Saviour's Church you can help in many ways; support, shop, get involved or become a Friend of St Saviour's. In short, you will find our witness to our Community in Christ. You may find it easier to navigate the site if you consult the site map next.

September 2008 Specials

There is lots happening over the next few months, so here is a list of our upcoming services and social events, provided by Jessica and the Worship Group.

The first weekend brings the Horticultural show [schedule], on Sat 6th.

Then on Saturday 13th, St Saviour's is joining in the 'Open Church' event. Churches all over the country will be opening their doors to both visitors and parishioners. St. Saviour's will be open from 10am until 4pm. Refreshments will be available in the morning and in the afternoon you can have a cream tea in the Hall, while the bell-ringers ring a Quarter peal. There will be people on hand to talk about various interesting features of the church - the bells, the organ etc, with a quiz for the youngsters. The flower ladies will be decorating the church ready for Harvest Festival on Sunday, so lots to see and do.

Janet Lunt is displaying her multi-sensory Earth Connect exhibition at St Peter's Church, Frampton Cotterell from Tuesday 16th to Thursday 18th September. Don’t miss it!

At 10am on Sunday 14th, there will be a Family Eucharist service, with a chance to bring harvest gifts, to go to a local charity. There will be traditional Evensong at 6pm.

September 25th is being celebrated as 'Back to church' Sunday, again joining with churches nationwide. It will be a chance to specially invite someone you know, who has maybe not been to church for a long time, to come along with you and join in a 10am 'Songs of Praise' type service. There will be invitations to give out, so look out for them in church soon.

October is going to be busy too, so let's get with it and look forward to an exciting and challenging autumn at St. Saviour's. We hope to see you soon.
