Personal details

I am 50 years old, I am married to Jo, and between us we have four children David, Becca, Charlotte and Daniel.

What is your secular job?

I spend my working days as Assistant Principal at St Bede’s Catholic College, Bristol, where I also teach Religious Studies and Geography.

How long have you been in Ministry?

I have been ordained for 24 years. I was ordained priest in Hexham Abbey, Northumberland, within the heart of Celtic Christianity. I believe in a social gospel, which is inclusive and open to all.

What are your hopes for the Partnership?

My hope is that our partnership will reflect inclusiveness and the social gospel in all that it does. I have a great passion for youth work - remember ‘Young People’ are the church of today and the hope of tomorrow. I believe fervently in ‘collaborative ministry’, our laity has so much to offer which we should value. If we leave it to the clergy, believe me, we won’t get very far - despite their many talents and clear strengths.

What are your favourite pastimes?

That’s easy - Spanish beaches, music (especially folk), walking, fly fishing and last but not least - Swindon Town FC.

What is your vision for the Partnership?

I believe that the churches of the Partnership working together, open to each other in love, and open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, can have a dynamic impact on the communities in which we live.

Thank you Malcolm for taking time to provide us with this information – when I know things are very busy at college at this time of year. Di
